NINES
The “collections” side of Collex (constituting Collex 1.0) is now in use as part of the first major release of NINES.
We will continue to develop the “exhibits” features of Collex and plan to release the complete tool as open source in the coming year. At that point, Collex will be fully integrated into NINES and also installable into other online archives and site federations. In the meantime, users are invited to test the tool by collecting, tagging, and annotating objects from participating NINES archives:
You can use the faceted browser at the link above to locate and collect objects, or you can begin collecting objects directly from NINES participating archives by installing the bookmarklet below:
COLLEX ↩ drag and drop!
Drag and drop the Collex bookmarklet into your browser’s menu bar (or save it as an Internet Explorer “favorite”), sign up at the “log in” link on the NINES page, and you’re ready to begin collecting objects. Further instructions and an up-to-date list of participating archives are available under “how to…?” on the NINES pilot page.
Some screenshots of NINES and Collex in action are also available.
